Since its launch two years ago, the $1 billion Household Energy Upgrades Fund â„¢ (HEUF) has helped participating households save thousands of dollars a year on their energy bills.

The total household savings through HEUF finance is estimated to be up to $16.4 million annually.

Discounted consumer finance products are helping increase the comfort and energy efficiency of homes, while also helping fast-track the retrofit of greener, more sustainable properties across the country.

New figures from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), which also consider CSIRO modelling, shows the HEUF has helped participating households:

  • cut their energy costs by up to 80%
  • save an average of between $1,700 and $2,300 a year on energy bills.

HEUF finance can be used for a range of upgrades including energy efficient appliances, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, batteries, and insulation.

Over $500 million has been committed through the CEFC since the initiative commenced in May 2024. With lenders committing a further $500 million, the total investment to date is more than $1 billion.
