Ongoing learning for quality assessments
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) ensures assessors stay up to date with current requirements, software updates, and new building technologies. Whether you deliver new or existing homes assessments, as an accredited assessor you must complete 12 CPD points each year, with at least 6 of those being technical CPD points.
For assessors, CPD is more than a requirement – it’s an opportunity to strengthen practice and stay connected to the wider energy efficiency community.
CPD activities can include:
- attending workshops, training or webinars
- completing online learning modules
- participating in technical forums or industry events
- undertaking policy or regulatory update sessions.
New homes Assessor Accrediting Organisations (AAOs) and the existing homes Assessor Accrediting Service Provider (AASP) review CPD participation annually when renewing each assessor’s accreditation. Participating in CPD demonstrates a commitment to ongoing learning and reinforces the consistency and credibility of Home Energy Rating assessments for both new and existing homes.
Assessors may want to complete CPD activities outside of the list of pre-approved CPD activities provided by their assessor accreditation service provider. To be allocated CPD points for these activities, assessors must submit a request for approval to their AAO or AASP prior to undertaking the activity. They will consider allocating CPD points if the CPD activity furthers the assessor’s technical skills and knowledge and provides the learning and skills necessary to safely deliver accurate, reliable, and trusted assessments.
