Information about data collector training and accreditation

In March 2026, state and territory officials agreed to the inclusion of a data collector accreditation pathway in Version 2 of our delivery model. A targeted public consultation in late 2025 informed the design of the pathway.

Data collectors assist the assessment process by entering homes and collecting the data needed for an accredited assessor to perform a Home Energy Rating assessment and produce a certificate.

This document provides more detail on the difference between a Home Energy Rating assessor and a data collector, and the different training requirements.

Training and accreditation

We anticipate data collector training will be available for interested individuals from the end of 2026 and accreditation from early 2027.

Further details on the development of this training and pathway will be shared through our Home Energy Rating newsletter.
